Social Media Specialist at Lethbridge College.
Rod Leland is a multidisciplinary technologist with a passion for emerging tech and the social web. He currently oversees all social media training, online advertising, and mass-email, as well as manages the institutional brand for Lethbridge College as their Social Media Specialist.
Building on his success as a staff photographer for a major daily newspaper, Rod launched into business for himself immediately upon graduation from the University of Lethbridge. Rod spent three years focusing on high-end commercial, advertising, editorial, and corporate photography while occasionally applying his talents to video and multimedia production, blended learning, social media consultation, digital workflow management, and general photographic consultation.
More recently, Rod was brought on to the team at the Southern Alberta Art Gallery, an internationally recognized and leading contemporary art gallery, to manage their online reputation, establish social media best practices, and grow attendance and sales through the use of online tools.
Rod has been published internationally and has worked for numerous notable clients including Canadian Press, Global Television Canada, the Toronto Star, the Edmonton Journal, the Southern Alberta Art Gallery, The University of Lethbridge, Lethbridge College, Venture Publishing and many others.
Rod is also a noted presenter and educator. He has presented and lectured for numerous large groups, companies, clubs, and educational facilities.
In addition to his social media and photography work, Rod has substantial involvement in Charity and Philanthropy. In 2010 and 2011, Rod took on the role of Lead Organizer for Help-Portrait Lethbridge, a Global Initiative to give portraits to less fortunate families and individuals during the Holiday Season.
